On Tuesday 6th March, the second day of the week of activities and events for National Careers Week, CHS focused on the wide range of careers across the many Public Services.
Representatives from the Cheshire Police Force, Cheshire Fire Service, the British Army and the Royal Air Force met with students in the Post 16 Centre (The Taylor Building) at lunch and break. There are a great many different roles within each of these services and students were able to gain a greater insight into the routes into these separate disciplines.
There was a great deal of interest from students with many coming along from all years to talk with the visitors. Public Services is offered as a Post 16 BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma for CHS and The Congleton College students and is always a popular and well subscribed course, so it was no surprise to see the large number of students interested in finding out more about the roles available in these services.
As a special bonus, the Cheshire Fire Service had brought one of their engines along so students and staff were able to see for themselves the range of equipment used by the Fire Teams and also experience what it is like to sit in an engine.
