Congratulations to everyone who took part in the English faculty's Key Stage 3 Shakespeare Sonnet Competition and a big well done to Madi F 7JF, who took first place, winning her the Easter egg prize.
Well done to the two runners up, Ryan J 9EBE and Finley AE 7JF who were awarded a chocolate easter bunny for their super sonnets.
You can read Madi's fabulous winning sonnet below:
What if Shakespeare was alive today?
Would his words delight, or simply bore?
Would he be celebrated for his latest play?
Or would he hold records for the best Scrabble score?
Perhaps there would be no Montague or Capulet
And heads might be turned by his ruff and tights
Would a chance encounter be a moment to forget?
Could he talk himself out of the worst of bar fights?
But his words are condemned to history
A moment in time that will never return
Our modern day muse remains a mystery
While in classrooms we sit and learn
Thank you, William, my historical friend
With these words, my best wishes I send
