Mrs Bates and two of her Body Positivity Group Sixth Form students, Hannah B and Nina W, attended a 'Recognising Body Image' reception at the House of Lords yesterday (Tuesday 12th July) at the invitation of Dr Luke Evans MP.
Dr Evans has recently launched a Body Image Pledge calling on organisations to commit to not digitally alter body proportions in their promotional material. Companies including Dove, Boots, Pure Gym, Barry M, John Lewis and Marks and Spencer have so far signed up to the Pledge.
The aim of the event yesterday was to celebrate the progress made and to further promote positive body image. Invites were issues to all Westminster MPs, UK Youth Mental Health Ambassador - Dr Alex George, and a wide variety of public figures including TOWIE's Charles King (who was lucky enough to be photographed with Hannah and Nina!).
During the event, Hannah and Nina were able to network with Parliamentarians, celebrities and other body-image advocates and, afterwards, were treated to a private tour of Parliament.
The reception was sponsored by lots of brands including Dove, who have expressed a keen interest in working with CHS in the future to support our Body Positivity programme.
We were all extremely proud to hear that the valuable work of Mrs Bates and the Body Positivity Group had been recognised and that they were able to join the reception and help to share the Body Positivity message.
