As part of their work on block-based programming and problem solving, Mr Davis’ 7GXT class spent time completing an Hour of Code tutorial of their choice in January.
Hour of Code is a one-hour introduction to computer science, using fun tutorials to show that anybody can learn the basics. The international campaign is supported by over 400 partners and 200,000 educators worldwide and available in over 45 languages There are loads of tutorials to choose from, including creating a simple game and a Minecraft themed option). Most of the students completed their tutorial and afterwards could generate their Hour of Code certificate. The class will be looking at how to build some games in Scratch as their next task.
